Technology...
This is a body of work featuring a new series of digital photographs taken solely with my camera phone. My attempt is to challenge our understanding of the monetary value that is placed on art and why good art needs an expensive price tag. With the advent of sophisticated technology widely available, I also seek to bring into question the contemporary standards of artistic merit and how much it should cost.
Here was my artist statement for the show:
'Technology' explores the world of digital art. It is my belief that there is more to a photograph than the means in which it was taken. Why can some call themselves artists and others amateurs? Is it because of its content, medium or frame? The purpose of this show is to force the viewer to react, to lift the veil that is covering their faces by challenging their perception of what one can call art.
